Workshop is a Canadian studio that makes furniture for restaurants and hotels. Together with Block Design, they developed an identity based on several bright colors, ASCII art, and Forma DJR by David Jonathan Ross.
Forma DJR is a revival of the Nebiolo foundry’s typeface of the same name, designed (among other things) as a response to Helvetica. Beyond its prototype, Forma DJR also embraces the 1960s-1970s trend of sans serif type, famous for its tight letter spacing and rounded angles. For these subtleties not to be lost at either really large or really small sizes, Forma comes in five optical sizes, from Micro (less than 8pt) to Banner (from 72 pt).
