In May 2024, photographer Roman Mashevskiy travelled to Japan with a number of P.Y.E . glasses that his friends from this store gave him asking to take photographs of people he would find interesting. Roman picked seven people, Xena Moon interviewed them, and Tatiana Egoshina turned all this into a longread typeset in Druk by Commercial Type and Neue Haas Unica by Linotype.
Druk is a bunch of extremely narrow, extremely wide, and extremely heavy faces, deliberately designed without any regular width or weights thinner than semibold. However, its text options work great even in small sizes. Druk’s author is Berton Hasebe, with its Cyrillic extension designed by CSTM Fonts.
