Update: Struve Slanted

An industrial sans by Shrift Foundry gets slanted styles

February 27, 2025

All five Struve weights as well as its variable font are now fitted with slanted versions. As their author is not willing to follow the B-I-U logic of basic text editor software, he prefers to call this Struve Slanted rather than Italic.

Struve is a typeface that combines the typographic aesthetics of locomotive plates with modern-day graphic solutions, with its stylistic alternates being the result of design experiments found on covers, posters, and other kinds of the early 20-th-century typographic ephemera.

Struve is authored by Eugene Yukechev, co-founder of the Type Journal, Schrift Collective publishers, and the Schrift Foundry. After receiving a degree in philology, Eugene enrolled in the British Higher School of Art and Design’s Type and Typography programme and then pursued his education at the Plantin Institute of Typography in Antwerp.

Another typeface designed by Yukechev, Bering Stencil, is also available at our store.
