Moscow’s Jewish Museum and Tolerance Centre is hosting an exhibition celebrating the work of Lyubov Popoba as well as her colleagues, teachers, and fellow thinkers. The names of the exhibition sections, labels, and reference texts are set in Stratos by Commercial Type and Kazimir by CSTM Fonts. The exhibition has been designed by by Nadya Korbut, Kirill Ass, and Mikhail Mikadze together with ABC Design Studio.
A modern serif typeface, Kazimir is an attempt to rethink the late 19th and early 20th century book typography. It has slightly narrowed proportions, long ascending and descending elements, and dynamic strokes that make you think of the transitional serifs. Kazimir comes in five weights ranging from Light to Black with italics.
Inspired by the wood type of the 20th century, Stratos is a geometrical sans face with an unconventional approach to proportions. Stratos’ authors discard traditional notions of typographic relationships to encourage the user to do more interesting things with type.
