Struve in use: Lots of Letters
Lots of Letters is a book consisting of 30 interviews published in the Type Journal during the first seven years of its existence. The list of the interviewees features such personalities as Peter Biľak, Maria Doreuli, Gerard Unger. Lots of Letters is the first ever project where Struve was used — four years prior to its official release. The typeface helped to properly place the emphasis in an intricately organised book and linked up its two spreads by vibrant typographic structures. Corpus Text, which is also designed by Eugene Yukechev, is in charge of the book’s body text.
Struve is a typeface that inherited its proportions and character from the industrial sans serif typography of the early 20th century — and it is not shy about this legacy. Its stylistic sets are inspired by typographic experiments by artists, designers and even writers found on book covers, posters and ephemera of that time. The font supports 431 languages, including Pintupi, used by one of the aboriginal groups inhabiting the Australian desert, and the language spoken by the Chickasaw native American tribe.
