Loos in use: Either ∣ Other

A typeface springing from a book by a Vienna architect used in the identity of a fictional London-based concept store

18 September 2005

Either ∣ Other is a fictional London-based concept store that sells clothes and collectible design items, hosts talks and art shows. In a course delivered at Werkstatt online school, Artem Matyushkin invited his students to create this store’s brand identity. Leya Chechik opted for Loos in her version of Either ∣ Other, having used it for its navigation system, banners, and the project’s merchandise.

A closed-aperture sans serif typeface, Loos](https://type.today/en/collection/loos_latin_cyrillic_georgian) was developed based on the lettering on the cover of a book by Adolf Loos, ‘Why A Man Should Be Well-dressed: Appearances Can Be Revealing’. It comes in an impressive weight palette, ranging from Compressed to Extended and from Thin to Black, with simple yet distinctive structures and slight stroke contrast. The typeface supports Latin, Cyrillic, and Georgian.
