Etwas verwunderlich wollt es ihm nun wohl bedünken, als sein Freund ihm gestand, daß das Manuskript von einem Kater, Murr geheißen, herrühre, und dessen Lebensansichten enthalte; das Wort war jedoch gegeben, und da der Eingang der Historie ihm ziemlich gut stilisiert schien, so lief er sofort, mit dem Manuskript in der Tasche.Der Herausgeber versprach, sein Bestes zu tun für den schriftstellerischen Kollegen. In 2008, Marlene was shortlisted for the Best Typefaces of 2008 by Typographica. In 2010 Nikola Djurek received the Icograda Excellence Award for his typefaces Marlene, Brioni and Plan Grotesque. In 2011, Marlene was selected as one of the best typefaces of the decade in AtypI’s Letter 2 competition. In 2011, Nikola Djurek received the International Association of Art Critics Award for his font families Marlene, Delvard, Plan Grotesque.

Typotheque

Typotheque is a type foundry and design studio run by Johanna & Peter Biľak, and Nikola Djurek. Typotheque is a type foundry based in The Hague, the Netherlands, developing and marketing original fonts for Mac and PC. Its commitment is to continue the traditions of independent type foundries, contributing its tiny bit to the continuous sequence of type history, creating quality typefaces of its time and needs. Typotheque’s focus on extended language support has driven the development of fonts that support not only most Latin-based languages, but also those based on Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic, Armenian and Devanagari scripts.

Nikola Djurek

Nikola Djurek was born in Croatia, studied in Croatia, Italy and finally in The Netherlands at postgraduate master course Type and Media at Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, he earned his PhD degree in the graphic and type-design field. Nikola is a partner at Typotheque, and teaches at Art Academy - DVK, University of Split and University of Zagreb, Faculty of Design.

Ilya Ruderman

Ilya Ruderman, a type and graphic designer and teacher, lives and works in Moscow. He is a graduate of the Moscow State University of the Printing Arts (2002), where his graduation project was done under the supervision of Alexander Tarbeev. He has a MA degree in type design from the Type & Media program at the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague (2005). After completing the program, he returned to Moscow, where he has collaborated for a number of media: Kommersant, Afisha, Moskovskiye Novosti, Bolshoi Gorod and Men’s Health Russia. In 2005-2007 he was art director for Afisha’s city guidebooks, following which he was art director for RIA-Novosti, a news agency, for several years. Since 2007 he has also supervised the curriculum in type and typography at the British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow. He has been very active as a consultant on Cyrillic since 2008. In 2014 he founded CSTM Fonts with Yury Ostromentsky.
